3415 Reading Road
The Pointes at Avondale
Client: The Community Builders www.tcbinc.org
3415 Reading Road is a new 18-unit apartment building, part of the larger Avondale Revitalization project led by The Community Builders, Inc. Features and amenities include hardwood floors, elevators, washer/dryer hookups and secure entrance.
Architecturally, we designed the building to fit in with the neighborhood’s traditional context in terms of scale and massing (rhythms and proportions). We also designed the building to inject new life and vitality into the neighborhood. The building is meant to send a signal to the 25,000 (average) daily travelers of Reading Road that a renaissance of Avondale is beginning. Reading Road (US 42) is the main corridor of the Avondale neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. Along it, empty lots, vacant or underutilized structures and buildings in disrepair, portray the long-term disinvestment of the city’s largest African American community. glaserworks was tasked with designing the first new building on Reading Road in over 20 years within very tight budget constraints. The project, since named the Pointes at Avondale has been highly successful and is currently leased at full capacity.
